INNOVATIVE LATIN DANCE TROUPE FEATURED AT HIV/AIDS GALA

WHITE PLAINS, NY – New York’s premiere gay and lesbian dance troupe, Rhythm Locura, will perform at AIDS-Related Community Services’ annual “Hearts for ARCS” Valentine’s Charity Ball, Saturday, February 9, at the C.V. Rich Mansion in White Plains. The troupe, which grew from Stepping Out Studio’s OUTdancing program, brings Latin flair to Westchester’s only gala that specifically raises funds to fight HIV locally. Performing salsa, rumba and merengue moves in colorful costumes, the dancers are a highlight of the Ball and always entice attendees onto the dance floor.

Now in its sixth year, “Hearts for ARCS” benefits the agency’s ever-expanding programs and services for those affected by HIV/AIDS. The theme for this year’s event is “A Sweet Shanghai Surprise” with open bar throughout the evening, a cocktail hour, fine cuisine, dancing, and a silent auction featuring exciting weekend getaways, show tickets, and one-of-a-kind experiences.

“Rhythm Locura adds an unprecedented level of excitement, and we are thrilled that they have volunteered to perform for us again this year,” said Trina Hiemcke, ARCS’ Director of Education and Prevention, who also chairs the Valentine’s Ball. “Though this event supports a very serious cause, it’s also a way to celebrate the vibrant and warm LGBT community of the Hudson Valley. A gay and lesbian Latin dance troupe is the perfect fit for our Valentine’s Ball.”

Funds raised will benefit ARCS’ services for more than 1,000 HIV-positive area residents and support its educational programs for all ages, sexes and sexualities.

Led by Artistic Director Simone Assboeck, Rhythm Locura is a dynamic group that aims to celebrate and bring the joy of Latin dance to the LGBT community. They volunteer their artistic talents to gay pride events and other community celebrations throughout New York City and the lower Hudson Valley.

The C.V. Rich Mansion is located at 305 Ridgeway, off Mamaroneck Avenue, in White Plains.
