Local Restaurants and Diners Participate in “Dining Out for Life” To Benefit AIDS-Related Community Services

Restaurant-goers have the opportunity to help people living with HIV/AIDS on Thursday, April 27 th by going to restaurants participating in “Dining Out for Life,” an international program benefiting local AIDS service agencies. In the Hudson Valley region, the beneficiary of the program is AIDS-Related Community Services (ARCS).
“Just by enjoying a pleasurable activity like going out to eat, supporters of ARCS can make a valuable contribution to our mission of providing HIV/AIDS prevention education and client services,” says Jeffrey Kraus, Executive Director of ARCS. “Participating restaurants in Dining Out contribute a generous percentage of that night’s proceeds to our agency,” he said.
Westchester restaurants participating include: An American Bistro, Tuckahoe; Applebee’s in Yonkers, Hawthorne, Mamaroneck, Mohegan Lake, Mt. Kisco, New Rochelle, Greenburgh, and White Plains; Division St. Grill, Peekskill; Iron Horse Grill, Pleasantville; MacMenamin’s Grill, New Rochelle; Mina’s Pizzeria & Restaurant, Ardsley; Peter Pratt’s, Yorktown; Sam’s of Gedney Way, White Plains; Susan’s, Peekskill; The Sterling Inn, New Rochelle; The Heights Bistro, Yorktown; umami café, Croton; and Zanaro’s Italian, White Plains.
In Dutchess, participating restaurants are: Alumnae House, Vassar, Poughkeepsie; Daily Planet, Lagrangeville; Maia Restaurant & Lounge, Poughkeepsie; Old Drovers Inn, Dover Plains; umami café, Fishkill; and Via Nove, Fishkill. In Rockland: Applebee’s, Airmont and Marcello’s, Suffern.
In Putnam: Cathryn’s Tuscan Grill, Cold Spring. In Ulster: Black Bear Hollow, Phoenicia; Gilded Otter, New Paltz; Harvest Café, New Paltz; Locust Tree, New Paltz; Main Course, New Paltz; New World Home Cooking, Saugerties; and The Would, Highland.
ARCS is the largest organization in the Hudson Valley solely dedicated to serving individuals and families infected with or affected by HIV/AIDS in the counties of Westchester, Putnam, Rockland, Orange, Dutchess, Ulster, and Sullivan. In New York State the Hudson Valley region is second only to New York City in HIV infection rates.
