Hudson Valley Ryan White Part B HIV Care Network

It is with great sadness that ARCS announces that due to extensive budget cuts to Federal Ryan White Part B funding experienced by the New York State Department of Health/AIDS Institute, we were informed today that all of the HIV Care Networks across the state will be eliminated as of December 31, 2010. The Hudson Valley HIV Care Network has only been in existence as a unified body under ARCS’ administration for the past two and a half years, but has earned an excellent reputation built on numerous achievements and accomplishments. The Network staff have been critical to these successes, and our Network has received much positive feedback from both the AIDS Institute and the community of providers and consumers in the Hudson Valley.

Please join us in supporting the Network staff in the coming months as they phase out the Network’s operations and help the community move toward a very different future. For more information and an explanation of the decision, please read this memo from the NYSDOH AIDS Institute.

What is the HIV Care Network?
The federal Ryan White Comprehensive AIDS Resources Emergency (CARE) Act was enacted by Congress in 1990. Part B (formerly known as Title II) of the CARE Act provides funding to states for programs for people living with HIV/AIDS. The most recent reauthorization of the Act in 2006 has focused funding on the delivery of core medical services for those living with HIV/AIDS. The Hudson Valley Ryan White Part B HIV Care Network is one of twelve similar networks across New York State, giving consumers and service providers a forum in which to create the most efficient service delivery system for their respective region.
