ARCS' Project Reachout (PRO) is a mobile van-based HIV prevention program that operates in Orange, Sullivan and Ulster counties, primarily in Newburgh, Middletown, Ellenville, Kingston, Liberty and Monticello. The PRO team works with substance users who are not currently receiving treatment to reduce their risk for HIV and other infections while encouraging them to seek help for their substance use. PRO uses a peer-based approach to harm reduction. PRO workers can provide referrals and linkages to:

Drug treatment facilities

Housing

Medicaid/DSS

Medical treatment

Food

PRO staffers also provide a friendly ear when people just need to talk. The van is stocked with hot coffee and snacks, condoms, and clean needle works to provide safer options and incentives. PRO has no eligibility requirements, either.
